Tequila, a small town located in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, is famous for its production of the iconic alcoholic beverage that shares its name. But there's more to Tequila than just the drink. However, there are many cute places to stay such as a Tequila barrel in the middle of an agave field.

While Tequila is most famous for its eponymous drink, there are plenty of other things to see and do in this charming town. Here are some of the top activities to include on your itinerary:

  1. Take a tequila tour: No visit to Tequila is complete without a tour of one of the many tequila distilleries in town. You can learn about the production process and history of tequila, and of course, sample some of the local varieties.

  2. Visit the National Museum of Tequila: This museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the history and culture of tequila, from its origins to the present day.

  3. Explore the town's colonial architecture: Tequila has a rich architectural history, with many buildings dating back to the 17th century. Be sure to visit the main square, which is surrounded by some of the town's most impressive buildings.

  4. Take a hike in the surrounding hills: Tequila is located in a picturesque valley surrounded by rolling hills. You can take a hike or a horseback ride in the hills surrounding the town and enjoy the stunning views of the countryside.

  5. Try the local cuisine: Tequila is also known for its delicious cuisine, including dishes like birria (spicy stew) and tortas ahogadas (drowned sandwiches).
