Buen Viaje: The Top Mexican Airlines for Traveling with Toddlers

Updated: Mar 24, 2023

Traveling with toddlers can be challenging, but choosing the right airline can make a big difference. When flying to Mexico with your little ones, you want an airline that is safe, comfortable, and family-friendly. Here are some of the best Mexican airlines to travel with toddlers.

  1. Aeromexico: Aeromexico is the largest airline in Mexico and offers an excellent travel experience for families. The airline has a dedicated family section on its website, where you can find information about traveling with children, including tips for traveling with babies and toddlers. Aeromexico also offers special meals for children, as well as a children's entertainment program on select flights.

  2. Volaris: Volaris is a low-cost airline that is known for its affordable fares. The airline offers a family-friendly experience, with dedicated family lines at check-in and boarding, priority boarding for families with children, and a children's entertainment program on select flights. Volaris also allows parents to bring one stroller and one car seat per child free of charge. Personally, we had an issue with Volaris loosing our stroller, missing our connecting flight, and a horrible customer service experience. We tried to speak to managers and were treated very unfairly and had to spend 7 hours in the airport and ended up staying in the layover city overnight. I would like to say I will never use this airline again, however, the prices, flight times and direct flight options are hard to pass up when booking our flights.

  3. Interjet: Interjet is a popular Mexican airline that offers an excellent travel experience for families. The airline offers a dedicated family section on its website, where you can find information about traveling with children, including tips for traveling with infants and toddlers. Interjet also offers special meals for children, as well as a children's entertainment program on select flights.

  4. VivaAerobus: VivaAerobus is another low-cost airline that is known for its affordable fares and excellent service. The airline offers a family-friendly experience, with a dedicated family section on its website, where you can find information about traveling with children. VivaAerobus also allows parents to bring one stroller and one car seat per child free of charge. This airline is probably the most affordable, however, the flight times are limited and the gates are usually smaller and less comfortable. Most of their planes do not board at a gate, but instead will board on the track with a big staircase. Keep this in mind when you have carry on items and little children. You can leave the stroller at the bottom of the stairs and it will be loaded on the airplane before take off.

  5. Aeromar: Aeromar is a regional airline that operates flights to several destinations in Mexico. The airline offers a family-friendly experience, with dedicated family lines at check-in and boarding, priority boarding for families with children, and a children's entertainment program on select flights. Aeromar also allows parents to bring one stroller and one car seat per child free of charge.

When traveling to Mexico with toddlers, you want an airline that is safe, comfortable, and family-friendly. Aeromexico, Volaris, Interjet, VivaAerobus, and Aeromar are all excellent options that offer a range of amenities and services for families traveling with young children. Choose the airline that best fits your family's needs and enjoy your trip to Mexico with your little ones!
